‘Intellectual Property Basics for Startups’ topic of free June 19 workshop
Dan Wadkins, a partner and Chair of the Corporate and IP Transactions Group at Lee & Hayes in Spokane, will discuss the basics of protecting intellectual property in this free one-hour “lunch and learn” for entrepreneurs and small business owners. The program is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 19, at Spokane Valley City Hall. Dan acts as outside general counsel to a variety of technology companies and advises clients in the areas of corporate, startup financing, trademark and brand protection, intellectual property strategy and commercialization, wine and beverage law, and commercial transactions. He has a passion for helping startups and emerging companies navigate the complex business and legal landscape, and can assist clients in every stage of the business life cycle. Dan also has considerable experience negotiating complex commercial transactions in the areas of manufacturing, services, SaaS and technology development. He regularly counsels and assists clients with the strategic acquisition, protection, registration, commercialization and enforcement of all types of intellectual property assets. A frequent guest speaker at Gonzaga and Washington State University, Dan recently authored a textbook chapter on trademarks for college-level business students.
